The Science of Skin Regeneration
Understanding how your skin works at a cellular level is the key to choosing the right treatments for lasting results.
Understanding Your Skin Layers
Your skin is a complex organ with multiple layers, each playing a vital role in skin health and appearance.
Epidermis — The Protective Shield
The outermost layer of skin that provides protection and creates our skin tone.
The epidermis is your skin’s first line of defence. It contains melanocytes that produce pigment, keratinocytes that form the protective barrier and Langerhans cells that support immune function.
This layer renews itself approximately every 28 days. When this process slows — due to ageing, sun damage or poor skincare — skin can appear dull, rough and uneven.
Related Treatments
Skin texture treatments, pigmentation treatments and hydration treatments primarily target this layer to improve surface appearance and barrier function.
Dermis — The Structural Foundation
The middle layer containing collagen, elastin, blood vessels and nerve endings.
The dermis is where the structural magic happens. It houses collagen fibres that provide firmness, elastin that provides bounce, and hyaluronic acid that provides hydration.
From our mid-twenties, collagen production declines by approximately 1% per year. This gradual loss is what leads to fine lines, wrinkles and loss of skin firmness over time.
Related Treatments
Microneedling, polynucleotides, skin boosters and collagen induction therapy work at this level to stimulate new collagen and elastin production.
Collagen Network — The Youth Matrix
The protein framework that provides structure, firmness and elasticity to skin.
Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body, forming a mesh-like network that gives skin its structure and resilience. There are multiple types of collagen in skin, each serving a specific structural purpose.
When we stimulate collagen production through treatments like microneedling or polynucleotides, we’re essentially asking the body to rebuild this structural framework, leading to firmer, smoother and more youthful-looking skin.
Related Treatments
Collagen induction therapy, microneedling and anti-ageing treatments directly target collagen production for structural skin improvement.
How Our Treatments Work
Microneedling
Controlled micro-injuries created by fine needles trigger the body’s wound healing cascade. This process involves three phases: inflammation (increased blood flow), proliferation (new collagen and elastin formation) and remodelling (strengthening of new tissue).
The result is denser, stronger skin with improved texture, reduced scarring and a more youthful appearance — all using your body’s own regenerative capacity.
Skin Boosters
Stabilised hyaluronic acid is delivered directly into the dermis through micro-injections. Each molecule of hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, providing intense hydration from within.
Unlike topical hyaluronic acid which sits on the surface, skin boosters work at the dermal level, improving skin quality, luminosity and hydration for months after treatment.
Polynucleotides
Polynucleotide molecules activate fibroblasts — the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. This bio-stimulatory action goes beyond simple hydration, actually regenerating tissue at a cellular level.
The treatment promotes wound healing, reduces inflammation and stimulates the production of new extracellular matrix components, resulting in genuinely improved skin quality over time.
Skin Regeneration
Our regenerative approach combines multiple modalities to address skin health at every level. By working with the skin’s natural repair mechanisms, we can achieve results that surpass any single treatment.
This multi-layered approach ensures that the epidermis, dermis and collagen network are all optimised, creating a comprehensive improvement in skin health, appearance and resilience.
